King Neptune meets the tempest......

Today we are continuing north west towards Singapore. We were greeted by lightning and thunder with heavy tropical rain in the morning - for safety, the ‘crossing the equator’ ceremony had to be postponed.. so watch this space for the photos. We have a couple of friends who have never crossed the equator by ship, so have never had the pleasure of King Neptune initiating them from pollywogs to shellbacks.
We met up with Ray and Paula, Joanne and Garry for BBQ lunch. On deck 12 is Sundaes  an all day ice cream, coffee and milk shake venue, so the boys decided to end lunch with ice creams. As you can see from the photos, we are continuing with our newly invented sport ‘plonking’ albeit ‘planking for seniors’ - drinking around the world! Even our head waiter, Maurizio jokingly took Garry's champagne and sat down for a minute to take part in the sport!!
My pinched sciatic nerve has been giving me trouble again, so a relaxing massage was a perfect interlude in a very wet day, followed by the trivia competition, which can really heat up!!
Everyone was waiting for 5.00pm. for the captain's announcement about the changed itinerary. He read out a letter from the Princess CEO and then announced a new itinerary which involves missing Muscat, Abu Dhabi and Casablanca, but adding Salalah and Gibraltar. The time in some ports has also been reduced by one or two hours - Langkawi has been shortened to 2.00pm departure.
We still have overnight in Dubai, and since it is so close to Abu Dhabi, our guide is coming across to Dubai and still taking us to AD - about 90 minutes. In reality we aren’t missing much - most passengers are back on board at least an hour before departure and the ports where long days are needed- like Petra and the Pyramids - are unaffected. As usual, there are the amateur marine engineers who all have theories and solutions and know how to fix it - very comical to see how some react and hold court and express their opinion with anyone who will listen.
Apparently the broken engine won’t be fixed until at least Dover, so we are offered $200 compensation per passenger. I think it will buy me just enough wine to drown my sorrows!! Hahaha
Tomorrow is Singapore - a city we love, so we are looking forward to another port day.
Cheers
