What can you win with a three legged horse?

We are still traveling across the Bay of Bengal, closer to the southern tip of Sri Lanka.
We had a very quiet sea day today - mainly walking the deck, eating, reading our books, chatting over coffee with friends, the usual trivia competition and watching a movie - although as usual, I fell asleep so missed the ending.
Tomorrow, the dicey wooden horses are competing in the Melbourne Cup race in the Vista lounge. At dinner last night, we discussed forming a syndicate from our dinner table and bidding at the auction to buy one of the six horses on sale.
Traditionally, the price increases as the auction continues, so we purchased horse number one for the princely sum of $75 - $15 investment for each couple. The total prize money for the winning owners is around $450. we are to be seated in the owner’s box with champagne supplied for the duration of the race meeting.
The challenge is to name the horse, train the horse, decorate the horse, prepare his biography and select a rider and owner’s representative. I believe I have been nominated as the owner’s representative to introduce our horse - much laughter has already gone into selecting the name and pedigree.... unfortunately, we didn’t notice until we went up to collect our horse that he has one front leg missing - - no problem - we have chosen Dennis as the jockey - and he has only one good leg - that’s all you need to win a horse race - four good legs!!!
Watch this space tomorrow for details of the race.. pictures .... and the results of course!!
Tomorrow we will be celebrating with champagne - or drowning our sorrows!!
Cheers
